Meet the Cafaro Family My uncle Sammy ran a terrific Luncheonette around the corner from Macy's in New York City. My father's family included five brothers and one sister, not to mention all of the aunts, uncles and cousins. We would all gather to celebrate the holidays at my uncle Sammy's restaurant. The handsome man in the middle is my dad, Anthony Cafaro. He is celebrating his birthday at my uncle's store (from left to right: uncle Jimmy, uncle Sammy, uncle Angelo, aunt Marie & uncle Freddie). Dad will delebrate his 84th birthday this November, 2007. My dad walks to the store every morning, to help out in the kitchen. The wonderful meatballs we serve are lovingly made everyday by my father's hands. When I was a little boy my uncle would stand me on a milk crate so I could help prepare the family's feast. Today I don't need the milk crate. |
